Traders are the most important components of any prediction market. Through the act of buying and selling contracts, participants reveal more than their personal market savvy; they disclose their "best guesses" as to the possible outcome of future events. These individual opinions affect prices, and the prices that emerge reflect the consensus view or wisdom of the crowd. The goal of this project is to use these market predictions to supplement traditional disease surveillance methods.
